Obtaining environmental badges

When the new Low Emission Zone (Umweltzone) comes into force on 1 October, the range of services provided by TÜV Hessen in Frankfurt (http.//www.tuev-hessen.de/standortPage.tuv) will be extended. This means that the TÜV Service Center in Frankfurt Rebstock (address: Am Römerhof 15) will remain open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays as of 4 October. An additional service will also be provided for six months enabling environmental badges to be obtained on Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

This restriction for vehicles will be introduced on a gradual basis.

  • From 1 October 2008, only vehicles displaying a badge (red, yellow or green) will be allowed to enter the low emission zone (Umweltzone).
  • From 1 January 2010, only vehicles displaying either a yellow or green badge will be allowed to enter the designated zone.
  • From 1 January 2012, only vehicles displaying a green badge will be allowed to enter the zone.
